My name is Dr. Betty J. Hall and I am the founder of Canyon Creek Animal Hospital. I graduated from U.C. Davis with a bachelors in Zoology in 1986, and then received my DVM degree from U.C. Davis Veterinary Medical School in June of 1990. I absolutely love taking care of dogs and cats - it never gets boring. I can't imagine doing anything else as a career.
I live with a total of 6 "kids": I have Jessie who is a 13-year-old, spayed female Australian Shepherd; Xander, a 7-year-old yorkie who thinks he is Napolean; Teddy, an approximately 5-year-old neutered male pomeranian that I recently adopted as a stray; Sydney, a previously feral cat who has tamed up rather nicely and has finally stopped destroying my house and home; and Drake, a one year old orange tabby that my husband and I rescued as a kitten last year; and Bobby Joe, a 45-year-old female desert tortoise.
I just got married in July 2009 so running the business has been a little crazy with planning a wedding and re-landscaping the yard in preparation for family coming to town for the big event. My husband is helping me not be such a work-a-holic.
I started the hospital with just 3 staff members besides myself, and now we are up to fourteen, most who are full-time. |
I received the 2005 San Diego Small Business Administration award for the Woman-Owned Business of the Year. (I am holding the award in the picture above).
In my spare time, I like to unwind playing my X-Box and Playstation 3 video games, watching Charger football games (I'm hoping they make it to the Superbowl this year), or heading out to the movies.
The latest news about Dr. Hall: she is 6 months pregnant, and expecting her baby boy, C.J. (Christopher James) on Labor Day, September 6, 2010. Things were going smoothly with the pregnancy (no morning sickness even) until she became short of breath in the end of May. She was admitted to UCSD Medical Center in Hillcrest for 8 days to be put on Heparin treatment for blood clots in each lung (bilateral pulmonary emboli) in addition to a large blood clot in her left thigh (DVT or Deep Vein Thrombosis). She also required a vena cava filter be placed through her jugular vein and into the main vessel leading to the heart to protect her from further clots from showering her lungs, heart and brain. Unfortunately, due to a severely swollen and painful left leg and foot, she is now on indefinite medical leave and unable to work as a veterinarian for the next several months. The good news is that CJ the baby, although on the small side, appears to be remaining healthy despite all of his mother's complications. We will keep you posted as she recovers, and let you know when she is able to return to work. In the meantime, Dr. Dolorico and Dr. Reuter, in addition to some wonderful relief veterinarians, are on duty to serve you and your pet's needs. |

Dr. Terri J. Dolorico graduated from Tennessee Veterinary school in June of 2000. She has been an associate veterinarian at Canyon Creek Animal Hospital since March of 2004. She has one-eyed "Willie" a killer chihuahua (actually he is very sweet until you put him into a cage), "Bumble" a sweet maltese that she rescued, Cueball the kitty, and Stitch, a kitty with no eyes at all. She also has a rabbit and a variety of fish aquariums. |

We are very proud that a lot of our staff has been with us for over two years!!! Sarah H, Stephanie, and Dr. D have been with Canyon Creek for 6 years now!
Unfortunately for us, Dr. Cobb and her husband moved to Missouri. She just had a baby boy on June 13, 2010!!!
