Canyon Creek Animal Hospital |
|
We currently have 3 doctors on staff to provide the following services:
-
Diagnostic and Therapeutic Services: Our hospital is equipped to provide diagnostic and therapeutic services to care for your pets' complete health care needs. We standardly book appointments every 30 minutes, rather than every 15 minutes, to allow more time to perform a thorough exam and to answer all of your questions regarding your pet.
-
Surgical Services: Our state-of-the-art surgical suite provides for the performance of a wide variety of surgical procedures. We even operate on a heated table to keep the patient's body temperature as normal as possible (anesthesia commonly drops a patient's body temperature). We perform numerous surgeries from spays and neuters, to tumor removals, to exploratory surgeries to remove foregin bodies from inside the intestines, bladder stone removals, etc. For extensive orthopedic surgeries, we call in a specialist, board-certified surgeon Dr. Robert Botte, to come to our hospital and perform the procedure.
-
Anesthesia: We utilize the safest available anesthetics to provide that extra margin of safety, especially for our older or high risk patients. Using the most modern equipment, the patient's vital signs are monitored during all anesthetic procedures.
-
Radiology Services: Our on-site, modern X-ray equipment provides high quality radiographs to aid in the diagnosis of many disorders. We also have Digital Dental Radiography to assist in diagnosis periodontal disease, which helps to assess if a tooth is in need of extraction.
-
Ultrasound: we now have a machine capable of ultrasounding to assess for bladder tumors, fluid in the abdomen, bladder stones, guided aspirates of masses, etc. However, major, complex cases that need a full ultrasound are reserved for a specialist to evaluate. It takes years of training to be accurate and competent with ultrasound interpretation.
-
Laboratory: Our in-house laboratory facilities provide for serum chemistry, CBC (complete blood count with a 5 part differential), Heartworm tests, Felv/FIV tests, fungal or ringworm cultures, skin scrapes to look for mites, ear cytology, urinalysis and parasite testing. We also utilize commercial veterinary laboratories for specialized diagnostics and consultations.
-
Pharmacy: We maintain a complete inventory of pharmaceuticals, vitamins, shampoos, flea treatments, and heartworm preventatives to meet the needs of your pet.
-
Behavioral Counseling: We can provide advice regarding the correction of problems such as excessive barking, chewing, spraying, scratching, digging, house soiling and aggression. We work closely with Jan at Bark Busters for more in-depth behavior cases.
-
Boarding: Our facility is set up for veterinary care and is not a boarding site. This allows us to focus all of our attention on your pet's medical condition without the distraction of numerous barking dogs that need tending to. We only provide pet boarding when there is a medical condition, such as a diabetic animal needing daily insulin injections.
-
Bathing: Some Routine and Therapeutic bathing services are available. For most dogs and cats, however, we refer to one of several Grooming shops in the area, such as "Dog In Suds" on El Camino Real or "Grateful Dog" on Highway 101.
