UPDATE 04-13-2020:

For the time being, Canyon Creek Animal Hospital will be open from 8:00am-5:00pm during the week. We are still temporarily closed on Saturdays.

We are doing our best to maintain 6 feet social distance protocols. We are still working with a concierge service and ask that owner's give the front desk a call when they arrive for appointments. A technician will come out to your car. When you see the technician coming please get your pet out of the car and extend your arm toward our technicians to hand off the leash. If your pet is in a carrier we ask that you please set the carrier down and take a step back to allow our techs the room to step up and pick up the carrier. Once your pet has been examined, the doctor will give you a call to discuss a treatment plan. We ask that you wait in your car so that our doctors are able to reach you and we are able to return your pet to you as soon as possible.

If you are coming to pick up medications or prescription diets please pull up to the curb and give the front desk a call. We will bring your pets medications or diets out to your car. As always please allow 24 hours for medication refill requests. Food orders have been delayed so please allow extra time when requesting prescription diets

Currently we are taking payment over the phone. We are not accepting cash at this time.

In compliance with social regulations ordered by the California Governor, we request that all pet owners wear face coverings during their curbside service to help minimize all parties from potential exposure to pathogens.

We will continue to keep our website up to date with our most recent changes to hours or policies.

We appreciate your cooperation during this time and we hope you're all staying safe and healthy!

March 20, 2020:

To our valued clients:

We know that there is a great deal of uncertainty in the world around us and the COVID-19 virus.  In order to be in compliance with standards recommended by the Center for Disease Control, American Veterinary Medical Association, and local officials, we are modifying our services to protect both you and our staff.

Until further notice, Canyon Creek Animal Hospital will continue to remain OPEN to provide care for your pets. We will be modifying our hours and will keep you updated here regarding any changes.  Starting Saturday, March 21st we will be closing on Saturdays for the time being.  To reduce traffic through our facility, we are enacting the following modifications to our procedures:

1.  For the next several weeks, we are re-scheduling elective/non-urgent anesthetic procedures/surgeries to help conserve resources.  If your pet has a procedure currently scheduled, we will contact you regarding the guidelines.

2.  We are adopting a concierge approach to prevent the potential spread of human illness.  We are personally escorting patients (your pets) inside the hospital and having clients wait in the safety of their vehicles or outside the hospital on one of our benches.  We will contact you by telephone prior to your visit to review the patient’s medical concerns and history, as well as discuss any preventive care that may be due.  Once a doctor has evaluated your pet, you will be contacted to discuss medical recommendations for your pet and for authorization for diagnostics and treatment.  We will take care of discharge instructions payment prior to having your pet brought back to you.

* Please bring your dogs in with secure collars/harnesses and leashes.  Cats must be brought in a secure cat carrier.  If you do not have a safe carrier, please let us know prior to your visit and we can arrange for you to borrow a sanitized carrier that you will pick up prior to your visit. *

3.  We will be asking you prior to your visit if you have experienced any illness within the last 48 hours that include a fever or upper respiratory symptoms, if so, we will request that you find an alternate person to bring in your pet.

4.  To reduce hospital traffic, we are requesting that non-urgent appointments including annual exams be postponed.  For pets who are stable, but on chronic medications for which an exam or lab work is due, we will be as flexible as possible.  If you have an appointment currently scheduled and you wish to reschedule your visit voluntarily, please contact us and we will be happy to accommodate your requests.

5.  For medication and product pick ups, we request that your follow our standard 24 hour advance request policy.  We will contact you when the medication is ready for pick up.  We will be providing curbside pick-up for your convenience.  Please call our office when you arrive and we will bring out your supplies to you.  Prepayment over the phone will further expedite your trip.  While Royal Canin has assured us that their food services are in full operation, please be sure to put in food orders early and promptly, in case food delivery services become disrupted.

Our protocols are fluid and will need to evolve as the local health officials assess the COVID-19 infection in our area.  We want to assure you that within our hospital, we are distancing our own employees and practicing frequent sanitation to reduce potential spread of infectious agents between ourselves.  We are looking into other options such as telemedicine in the near future to help reduce in-person encounters at the hospital.  You will be notified as soon as any new changes are instituted.  We encourage you to update your contact information with our hospital including best telephone number and e-mail address. We also recommend downloading the Pet Desk app or setting up an account through their website. This will give your access to your pet's vaccine and medication history in the event that we are not open.

In this stressful time, take advantage of any home time you may have.  Enjoy your pets and families.  Reach out by phone and social media to loved ones near and far.  And in case you haven’t heard it enough, wash your hands!

Veterinarians recommend regular wellness exams for the same reason your physician and dentist recommend them – if you can detect a problem in its early stages, it's more likely to be treated and resolved with less expense, less difficulty and better success.

As the saying goes, an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure. Vaccinations, heartworm prevention and routine deworming are important components of wellness care and can prevent diseases that are not only life-threatening, but very expensive to treat.

Vaccines help prevent many illnesses that affect pets. Vaccinating your pet has long been considered one of the easiest ways to help him live a long, healthy life. Not only are there different vaccines for different diseases, there are different types and combinations of vaccines. Vaccination is a procedure that has risks and benefits that must be weighed for every pet relative to his lifestyle and health. Your veterinarian can determine a vaccination regimen that will provide the safest and best protection for your individual animal.

Your pet deserves high-quality, stress-free surgical care. At Canyon Creek Animal Hospital, your pet receives state-of-the-art surgery from our team of compassionate, highly-trained veterinarians and veterinary technicians. The latest monitoring technology, fully-equipped surgical suites and advanced anesthetic equipment are used in order to make your pet's surgery as safe, comfortable, stress-free and pain-free as possible.

In the event of an emergency during our normal office hours please call ahead if possible and proceed directly to our practice. We may need to refer you to a local veterinary emergency facility if your pet requires emergency intensive care or surgery, or if 24 hour monitoring will be needed.

For after-hour emergencies, we advise that you contact the pet emergency center shown below.

Dental health is a very important part of your pet’s overall health, and dental problems can cause, or be caused by, other health problems. Your pet’s teeth and gums should be checked at least once a year by your veterinarian to check for early signs of a problem and to keep your pet’s mouth healthy.

Our mission at Canyon Creek Animal Hospital is to provide the highest quality, compassionate, veterinary medical care in a friendly, relaxed setting for you and your pet. We treat every pet as it were our own.

We believe that a thorough physical exam is the foundation for determining the options to diagnosis and treat a pet's medical condition. Even animals that are healthy and just in for an annual check up still receive the full 14 step physical exam.  We then educate our clients on their pet's condition so they can make the decision on a diagnostic and treatment plan that works best for the whole family.

At this site, you will find information about our practice philosophy, our services, our wonderful staff members, as well as hospital hours and emergency referral centers.  We have added to our staff and now have fifteen employees!  We have four doctors currently here to serve you and your pets.
